The Bar Dip is my take on a Dirty Martini Dip.

It’s also a nod to the good ole’ days of vacationing in Gulf Shores with a mandatory visit (or two, or three) to the legendary Flora-Bama Bar.

Gorgonzola cheese, olives, and a few “secret” ingredients make this dip a stand out.

It’s easy to throw together and perfect for any get together.

or even, girl dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonaise
  • 8 ounce package cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup chopped martini olives (I use Mezzetta)
  • 3 T olive juice brine from jar
  • 1/2 cup Gorganzola cheese, crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1 Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon vodka (if you don’t want to use vodka, substitute a tablespoon of olive juice brine)
  • 1/4 cup chopped white onion
  • 1 generous teaspoon dried onion
  • 1 generous teaspoon dried shallot
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • extra olives to stuff with gorgonzola

Instructions

  1. Mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, softened cream cheese, olives, gorgonzola cheese, granulated garlic, and worstershire.
  2. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In a small skillet, melt butter.
  4. Saute onion on low heat until caramelized – this will take about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Once onions are caramelized, add in fresh garlic, dried onions, and dried shallots and saute for 30 seconds until browned.
  6. Pour in vodka to deglaze the pan and release all those juices.
  7. Allow this mixture to cool approximately 3-4 minutes before adding to dip mixture.
  8. Mix again.
  9. Place in the fridge to chill at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  10. While the dip is chilling, remove pimento from large olives and stuff with a small amount of gorgonzola.
  11. To serve the dip, Pour mixture into a martini glass.  Top with additional chopped olives, a few crumbles of gorgonzola, and the stuffed green olives.
  12. ENJOY!

Notes

  • The olives stuffed with gorgonzola are a great stand alone appetizer.
  • This tool makes it a breeze to remove the pimentos quickly to stuff the olives.

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes (plus chill time)
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
