I am so excited to join a fabulous group of ladies and take you on a wonderful fall porch tour.
If you stopped by from The Tattered Pew……WELCOME!
Full disclosure…..I’ve have been in the middle of a refresh on our back porch for about 8 months now.
Then, I had to stop and figure out how to outsmart the critters who were detroying my landscaping. The porcupines and black squirrels finally found my garden utopia, and refused to play nice.
My prize plants took quite a beating for about 4 months.
In no time flat, my uninvited yard guests destroyed a large tree, mauled two weeping pussywillows, and ate about 40 rose bushes to the ground.
Finally, right before my nervous breakdown, those rude creatures moved on down the road.
My landscaping is slowly recovering, and I have re-grouped. Now my porch refresh is finally complete.
Just in time for fall.

The Porch Updates
During the refresh, I made many updates to the space. Pier 1 had an amazing sale on their patio furniture, so I snagged two beautiful chairs and ottomans.
I also waxed three different pieces of furniture.
The first piece is the spool table I found thrown out next to the barn. It used to hold roll of cable, now it’s the perfect spot to set a drink down while we enjoy the sunsets.
Daddy used to have a spool large sitting in his office and so I decided to use the one I found as our coffee table between the two chairs.
All I did was sand it down and buff in some white wax.

I know that table is a little lopsided from this angle. That’s okay – I am a big believer in loving the un-perfect of everything in life.
I found the cool pot at HEB Grocery, added some spray paint and dirt, and then planted it up with some of succulents.

Here’s an overhead view of the pot I planted up.

You can find my tutorial for aging a pot here.
The next piece I waxed is the mirror hanging above the table. I found it at Hobby Lobby, but I wanted to add some dimemsion so that it stands out against the stone walls.
Again, I went with some black wax.
It’s an easy look to achieve. All I did was brush some black wax onto the wood and then buffed it in to the edges.

I also waxed the table underneath the mirror. It is an old trough that we put glass on to use as a console table.
I have also had the sconces that are hanging on either side of the mirror for years. I never like them because they were an ugly brown.
Again, I pulled out the flat black Krylon spray paint and worked some magic.

Finally, I used dark wax on the door hanging on the opposite wall from the mirror. You can see a peek of it just behind my Macho fern in the photo below.

Pumpkins, mums, and candles.
My go to for fall decor every single time. Eventually, I wll add in some pansies.
But, here in Texas it is still too warm, so I will wait a few more weeks before I add those to the mix. Then my fall porch update will be complete!

I love to go the pumpkin patch to get my pumpkins. But, with a grocery store like HEB, it’s really not necessary. They have such awesome stock to choose from.
I just tucked the pumpkins and candles around my Rabbit’s Foot Fern.

I used both real and faux pumpkins in my fall decor, and added in some twinkle lights, and jewel tone leaves to my dough bowl.

My potato vine is still going strong with our warm days and cool nights. And, my mums are just starting to open up.

Above is a better picture of the door hanging behind my macho fern. I used some jewel toned throws and fall pillows on the chairs to complete my fall look.

Another view of the pumpkins and mums!

David and found the chandelier on our outdoor porch when we went junkin’ around San Antonio a few years ago.

This is our view when we sit outside.

The Texas sky is always such a treat.
