I’ve been making this beauty almost daily for lunch.

Two slices of buttery toasted rosemary sourdough slathered with a yummy garlic mayonnaise.

The bread is then loaded with crispy bacon, romaine lettuce, ripe avocado slices, melted smoked gouda cheese, and fresh garden tomatoes.

This summer sandwich, BLAGTS for short, is my favorite summer addiction.

And, I’m betting it will be yours too.

Description

The summer sandwich of your dreams – Bacon, lettuce, avocado, smoked Gouda, and garden tomatoes nestled between two buttery toasted slices of rosemary sourdough finished off with a lovely garlic basil mayonnaise.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices rosemary sourdough (I get mine from the HEB bakery)
  • 2 Tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 3 fresh basil leaves, julienned
  • 2 cloves roasted garlic
  • 6 slices smoked gouda cheese
  • 3 slices fresh garden tomatoes
  • 3 slices cooked bacon
  • 4 slices avocado
  •  

Instructions

  1. Spread melted butter on one side of both slices of bread.
  2. Broil in the oven until crispy (it happens fast, so don’t walk away)
  3. Smash roasted garlic into a paste and mix together 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise.
  4. Add in the julienned basil.  Mix again.
  5. Remove bread from oven and spread mayonnaise mixture on the non-buttered side of both slices.
  6. Place smoked gouda over the mayonnaise mixture and place back in the oven to melt.
  7. Remove from oven once melted.
  8. On one of the bread slices, layer on bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato in that order.
  9. Sprinkle with kosher salt and fresh ground pepper.
  10. Top with second slices of rosemary sourdough.
  11. Slice and ENJOY!
