J Dub’s Poser Pizza is not an imposter.  I jokingly call it a “poser” because the crust is not homemade. Having said that, I also make an excellent homemade crust that I am still getting website ready – photos, directions, SEO nonsense…..

This is my go to recipe on a busy school night or a crazy weekend.  If you throw the naan bread wrappers away before anyone sees them, no one will be the wiser.  Trust me, they will think you have been in your kitchen working tirelessly on a homemade crust.

Ingredients

4 naan breads

1 1/2 cups of your favorite marinara (I use HEB Organic Tomato Basil pasta sauce)

Approximately 30 leaves fresh basil, julienned

1 pound of fresh mozzarella cut into large chunks (I get a large piece cut in the HEB deli, and then cut it into cubes) – approximately 36 cubes

1/2 cup garlic mayonnaise (this is literally 2-3 cloves of chopped, roasted garlic and 3 or 4 julienned leaves of fresh basil mixed into 1/2 cup of your favorite brand of mayonnaise).  You can use fresh garlic in a pinch, but roasted is the only way to go.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Spread flatbreads with garlic mayonnaise.
  3. Next, spread marinara over naan bread.
  4. Top with mozzarella chunks.
  5. Sprinkle tops of pizzas with basil.
  6. Bake for  4-6 minutes until mozzarella is bubbly and brown.  Do not walk away from the oven…. These pizzas bake quickly and need to be watched closely.

Tips:

Feel free to add thinly sliced pepperoni or any other toppings.

It should go without saying that your oven will be extremely hot.  Please use caution when removing pizzas and use oven mitts that will handle these high temperatures.

Serve J Dub’s Poser Pizza with a Caesar salad and call it a day!  Let me know what you think.
